A week or more before the move
Confirm the moving plan and start discussing the cleaning scope. Explain whether the home will be empty, partly furnished or occupied. Include appliance interiors or cabinets you want addressed, since these details may change preparation and the quote.
Check building access instructions and whether you need to arrange a moving elevator or authorized loading. Leave room for uncertainty in the moving schedule. Avoid making the cleaning appointment depend on a moving crew finishing at an unrealistically exact moment.
As the rooms become empty
Remove personal belongings, dispose of your own unwanted items through the appropriate route and keep the agreed working surfaces accessible. Separate items being left for the next occupant from items still waiting for collection. Emptying cabinets is useful only if their interiors are in scope.
Confirm that electricity and water will remain available during the cleaning window. Tell the provider about areas that are still blocked. Do not request cleaning around active repairs without discussing whether the work can be completed safely and usefully.
After the cleaning, before returning keys
Leave time to look through the home and compare it with the agreed tasks. Make notes about questions while access is still straightforward. Coordinate any remaining possessions or keys directly with the people responsible for the handover.
